Our Mission.
Our mission is to help athletes and those that support them understand the impact that sports have on us as whole people. So often mental health resources for athletes center around their performance, missing so much of what is happening for the athlete as a person. Our hope is to provide resources that go beyond performance, exploring:
How sports impact your identity and how they inform how you think about yourself and your world.
How your sport bolsters you and how it tears you down.
How your sport interacts with all the other parts of you including your unique brain, body, and personality.
How sports can illicit difficult emotional experiences like anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and even suicidal ideations - and how to care for yourself in these places.
How the often problematic culture of sports, teams, and coaches can impact you as a person - and how coaches, parents and athletes can work towards change.
How to manage disruptions to your athletic pursuits including puberty, injury, the college recruiting process, the end of your organized sports career, and professional retirement.
How to renegotiate your athletic identity as a life long athlete due to age, parenthood, illness or lifestyle changes.
Ultimately, we believe that navigating all of these questions will bolster you as an athlete and a person, enhancing your experience as an athlete and allowing you to perform with freedom, confidence and enjoyment in sports and beyond.
